Day 38: Wednesday 05 March 08

The Mojo end of the barrier, started Monday morning. Planks have been laid inside the scaffolding. On these large one tonne bags of sand will be placed to give stability to the barrier. Planks have also been fixed to the seaward side of the scaffolding to which sheets of plywood will be fastened. This will prevent any rock falls making it to the roadway.
The Torbay Hotel end, 430 metres down the road and the last section of the scaffolding is almost complete, fast workers, these boys from ISCA Scaffolding.
Here part of the central reservation has been removed to allow traffic to cross to the left side of the central reservation for easy access to Cary Parade. The bus stop used by the FirstBus X80 has been removed but the other bus stop used by the number 12/12A, 111 and the X46 remain.

I will let you know soon as I know.

Notes about the blog. Updated 08 March 2008

Not much is happening at Rock Work now. All the work clearing the trees has been done. A barrier has been erected to prevent rock falls from reaching the road. Now we wait for the geological survey in May to see what can be done to fix the rocks in place.
After that when work starts again later in the year I will post more photos.
Any news items I come across I will post as they appear in the local paper.

Or you can work through the whole blog to find more detail.

If you left click on a photo you get a larger image.

Each day has the label "Day", click on it and you will miss out the other posts.

Articles from the Herald Express are labelled Herald Express.

And so on.

Please feel free to leave a comment.
