Day 29: Part Two

As well as clearing most of the trees and scrub from the cliff face the large slabs of rock now have to be checked to make sure they aren't going to slide down onto the road below and smash into the side of my bus.

Or into the queue of passengers waiting at this bus stop.

It was this danger that prompted Torbay Council into doing this work in the first place. But the town will benifit from the improved look to the sea front.

Meanwhile back to one of the first photos to appear here, only this time these workmen are replacing the street lighting in readiness for that glorious day when the road is open for buses once again.

March 7th is O Day the last I heard.

Notes about the blog. Updated 08 March 2008

Not much is happening at Rock Work now. All the work clearing the trees has been done. A barrier has been erected to prevent rock falls from reaching the road. Now we wait for the geological survey in May to see what can be done to fix the rocks in place.
After that when work starts again later in the year I will post more photos.
Any news items I come across I will post as they appear in the local paper.

Or you can work through the whole blog to find more detail.

If you left click on a photo you get a larger image.

Each day has the label "Day", click on it and you will miss out the other posts.

Articles from the Herald Express are labelled Herald Express.

And so on.

Please feel free to leave a comment.
