The last 25 metres of Rock Walk its self has been closed to allow building work to be carried out on the replacement for The Palm Court Hotel. This work now appears to be complete but Rock Walk is still boarded up. On November 28 I took this photo and tweeted the council to see if the builders could be asked to remove their junk and reopen the walk way.

A month later I had a look, it would appear the junk has gone but sad to say it appears there has been some damage done to the wall on the left. That will need fixing before we can once again walk the full length of Rock Walk.

We must wait and see what happens next.

I've received an Email from the Highways Department after contacting Planning about blocked access from Rock walk to Shedden Hill Rd. I quote: " Thank you for your email regarding the above.

I'm afraid I can't give a definitive date for the re-opening, the effect of the wall stabilisation works on the footway and surrounding walls are still being investigated by consulting engineers.

My last report from them indicated they felt settlement of the substructure had diminished and they were undertaking the design of the rebuild of the areas affected. There are a number of property owners affected by remedial works so there will be detailed negotiation required involving those concerned." comment by Michael

Notes about the blog. Updated 08 March 2008

Not much is happening at Rock Work now. All the work clearing the trees has been done. A barrier has been erected to prevent rock falls from reaching the road. Now we wait for the geological survey in May to see what can be done to fix the rocks in place.
After that when work starts again later in the year I will post more photos.
Any news items I come across I will post as they appear in the local paper.

Or you can work through the whole blog to find more detail.

If you left click on a photo you get a larger image.
